Good Bye for Now- Summer Challenge- Last Events of the School Year!

We had a wonderful year in room 101 and are so lucky to have spent this time with our kindergarten friends. Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Kearney know all our friends are going to do great in first grade.  Over the summer we will be working hard to prepare for next year, reading, taking classes, writing curriculum and relaxing with our families.  We encourage all of you to rest, relax, play and read all summer too!  Remember we encourage our students to keep a journal over the summer!

SUMMER CHALLENGE

Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Kearney would LOVE to read about all our (now former) students summer adventures.  If students write at least once a week every week (at least 10 entries!) of the summer adhering to the kindergarten expectations- at least 3 sentences and an illustration with 6 colors (on each entry) a PRIZE will be earned!  Please have the students bring in their journal the first day of first grade- September 4, 2018.  We hope we will be reading LOTS of summer journals! The past two years we have had two students each year complete this challenge. We hope to have even more this year!

Our Last Time on The Playground as Kindergartners!

Amazing Friendships

Our year with our 4th grade partners was phenomenal! We had so many amazing experiences with our 4th grade partners this year that true friendships formed between the kindergartners and the 4th graders. Mrs. Visocchi, Mrs. Kearney and I were so impressed with these students this year. To watch the friendships grow over the year was heart warming and worth all the effort to collaborate. We are so proud of how these mixed age groups were able to work together and grow over the school year.  To end our year together we had the students sign beach balls to keep as a memory of our time together. Today on our last day of school we played name bingo together!

Water Day Highlights

Our second and third water days with Room 103 and Room 102 were a lot of fun too! We had the perfect weather for our water days and a great time was had by all. Wednesday morning started with a visit from the Burlington Public Library to promote the summer reading program. On Thursday, we changed up water day a little and we had a slip and slide for the students to use and we went to the school wide award Dunk Tank and many of our students were successful at dunking Miss Miliano!
