Thank You Miss Nash & Butterfly Release!

We had a busy week in Room 101! Friday was our busiest day. We said goodbye to our senior intern Miss Nash. We had a little time to PLAY in kindergarten. The blocks, sandbox, math blocks and the sand box were all open during choice time.  We also released eight butterflies. We were hoping the rain would stop, but we stood under the awning and said goodbye to the butterflies before dismissing for the day.

Community Helpers

For the past couple weeks we have been learning about Community Helpers. We have been reading many books, and watching short videos and we have been lucky to have three of our parents come in and talk about their community helper jobs. Thank you to Mrs. Jarvis, Mrs. McElroy and Mrs. Interess. We learned about the Librarian, Dental Hygienist and Social Worker jobs first hand from these experts.

Information On May 23 Distance Learning Pilot - Students Will Report To School As Usual
Information On May 23 Distance Learning Pilot -
Students Will Report To School As Usual
MAY 1 2019

Dear Burlington Public Schools Families,
Burlington Public Schools will be conducting a Distance Learning Pilot on May 23rd. This pilot is about testing our effectiveness in communicating assignments to students at home in case of a canceled day. The purpose of the two-week window in this Distance Learning Pilot is to allow students time to receive the proper support and services to complete the assignments within the two week window. Students in grades 6 through 12 will utilize Google Classroom for this pilot and K through 5 students will use Seesaw.
Here are some quick details about the pilot
  1. Students will still report to school
  2. This is a test of our ability to communicate assignments online
  3. Parents don’t need to be connected to Seesaw or Google Classroom. Students (and parents of younger students) can access the information by signing into the student account directly. The reason for using Seesaw for K-5 students and Classroom in grades 6-12 is to provide consistent, organized locations for students and parents to access information without having to go to several platforms or go through several emails.
  4. BPS will review feedback about this process and this feedback will be utilized to assist the School Committee in its decision on whether to implement Distance Learning in the future.
Sincerely,
The Burlington Public Schools Distance Learning Committee
