Estimating

This week we introduced estimating. We have asked the students to estimate or to make a good guess as to how many seeds are in the different kinds of apples we have been learning about. This week we estimated how many seeds were in the Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith and MacIntosh apples.

We were surprised to see that there were different numbers of seeds in each apple. Be sure to ask your child about this. What apple had the most seeds, which one had the least? Below see pictures of the students demonstrating what we do for estimates that are to high, to low and an accurate guess or "right on the nose."  We also saw the shape in the middle of the cut apple- a star!

Maisey the Corn Snake

Miss P. sent over a mouse for us to feed Maisey! We fed her this afternoon. It was very exciting and mesmerizing to watch!
