Good Bye for Now- Summer Challenge- Last Events of the School Year!

We had a wonderful year in room 101 and are so lucky to have spent this time with our kindergarten friends. Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Kearney know all our friends are going to do great in first grade.  Over the summer we will be working hard to prepare for next year, reading, taking classes, writing curriculum and relaxing with our families.  We encourage all of you to rest, relax, play and read all summer too!  Remember we encourage our students to keep a journal over the summer!

SUMMER CHALLENGE

Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Kearney would LOVE to read about all our (now former) students summer adventures.  If students write at least once a week every week (at least 10 entries!) of the summer adhering to the kindergarten expectations- at least 3 sentences and an illustration with 6 colors (on each entry) a PRIZE will be earned!  Please have the students bring in their journal the first day of first grade- September 3, 2019.  We hope we will be reading LOTS of summer journals! The first two years we have had two students each year complete this challenge. Last year we had four students complete the challenge! We hope to have even more this year!

Flag Day Family Gathering

Today we had our Family Gathering. Room 101 students did an amazing job singing their Patriotic songs and sharing all their books with their parents. Our students have grown and learned so much this year, these books show just how far they have come. The memory book tracks all the special things we had done this year, so students can look back and see all the things we have learned about throughout the year. They can also see how much bigger they are now when they compare the September photos to the June photos! Our students are "BIG" kids now and ready for new challenges in first grade.

We can't believe that we only have 5 1/2 days left. We have had a wonderful year with this group of students. We look forward to hearing about all their accomplishments in the future. Thank you for taking the time to come to our gathering today we hope you were as impressed as we were!

American Symbols on the Giant Map!

On Wednesday, June 5th we tool a trip around North America in search of American Symbols! Our 4th grade partners were our tour guides and taught us relevant information and they quizzed us on our knowledge of American Symbols. We traveled with our suitcases and passports and we collected stamps in our passports and coloring souvenirs of all the places we visited. We had so much fun engaged in our social studies curriculum. Thank you to our 4th grade parents and the many parents, Burlington staff and School Committee member Martha Simon. We could not have done this project without all your support!
