Highlights of the Week of April 25th

We got right back into learning after the April vacation. We started learning about plants and seeds and we completed our second shape unit, Topic 13 in Math. We also started our Animal Research Project with our 4th grade partners. The students are enjoying our Discovery Centers and have been working hard in reading, math and writing groups.

Parent Readers

Thank you to Mrs. Burke, Mrs. Gillis, Mr. Congini, and Mrs. Schmaelzle for coming in to read with us Friday morning. We appreciate you taking the time to read with us.

Math Stackers and 3D Shape Building

On Tuesday we worked hard on our Envision Math Topic 13- Shapes. We constructed three dimensional shapes using mini-marshmallows and toothpicks, we stacked three dimensional shapes, and used the Pattern Blocks to play two games and use shapes to create other shapes. Then Mrs. Fortunato came in and she introduced the students to the new Math Stacker magnets, magnet boards, erasers and dry erase markers. We went through different ST Math puzzles and had Math Talks about strategies to work through the math problems. We had a lot of fun using these new math materials.
