Hoots, Writers and Congratulations

Congratulations to all Room 101 students who earned Hoot cards and wrote at home. Remember December reading logs can be completed over vacation. Students were gifted new winter journals for writing at home. We'd love to read about what activities were done over the break.

Highlights of the week of December 18th

We had a busy short week with lots of excitement! We had a holiday pajama party with the whole kindergarten in the cafeteria on Tuesday. We started with Mr. Lyons reading us a holiday book. Then we danced to a few movement breaks. We got breakfast snacks from the PG kitchen and then we played some guessing games and danced some more. It was a lot of fun and very loud with excited children. On Wednesday we had our 4th grade partners down to do some holiday crafts- tricorn bead candy canes, roll a gingerbread and mystery gingerbread. We also played the dreidel game and holiday bingo. It was a great morning. Then we had a later Morning Meeting and explored a bit of electricity. The students used a D size battery and a holiday light and tried to figure out how to use the battery to light up the light. We talked about closed circuits and how to make the light shine brighter. We had quite a scientific discussion! We completed learning all the lowercase letters in Fundations this week. We used our letterboards for the whole alphabet and we played Fundations bingo. We completed Topic 6 in math with our topic test on Tuesday. We got together with Room 102 and watched a short holiday video with them Wednesday afternoon. We watched all 6 of The Mitten retells done by Room 101 students and to close out our week we will have a whole school PBIS reward and celebrate with a pajama, movie, party in the bag day. We hope all our families have a wonderful break!
