June 1 - New York and the Statue of Liberty -AND - Read Aloud - Duck In The Fridge

Today we travel to New York to learn about the

Statue of Liberty!  Upload responses to Seesaw

or email to Mrs. Parnell.

Today our friend Barbara reads the funny story, Duck in the
Fridge byJeff Mack. The silliness starts with a boy who discovers
a duck in his fridge. Soon there are more ducks and the only thing
they are interested in is having fun.

Try this addition color by number duck

Watch and sing along to the 5 little ducks song

Today’s chant:

I am loved.
I am kind.

I am awesome.

June Is Here

Dear Parents,

It seems hard to believe that another school year is
coming to a close, and that our group of children is
moving on.  We will certainly be reflecting on this
kindergarten year like no other we have had the
opportunity to teach!  We have enjoyed your child
very much, and we appreciated this opportunity to
share in his/her growth over the past months.  We
hope we have fostered for your child a secure
transition into elementary school.

During our last couple of weeks we will savor the
time we have and will continue to engage in fun
learning opportunities during our meetings and
learning posts.

We are most appreciative of the support we have
had from you this year.  Your flexibility, engagement
and openness during what has turned out to be a most
memorable school year has been amazing.  We realize
that we ask a great deal of families, and we recognize
the contributing role you play in the success of our
program and your child’s education.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.  It has
made our year an enjoyable one.

May 29 - New York/ Canada - Niagara Falls AND Read Aloud - What Pet Should I Get

Check out CJ and Lillian. They are exploring the USA
are you?  Upload your pictures to Seesaw or email
Mrs. Parnell. Can't wait to see where you visited!

Today we travel to New York at the Canadian
border to learn about Niagara Falls!
Upload responses to Seesaw or email to Mrs. Parnell.

Mr. Donoff will read What Pet Should I Get? by Dr, Seuss. What
pet would you decide to get if you could only pick one? Listen to
the story as children think about that very question. The problem
is that they want them all!

Use these two sheets to brainstorm and support your choice for
which pet to get. Maybe you can persuade your parents that you
are ready for a new pet!

May 28 - Massachusetts -AND - Read Aloud - Make Way For Ducklings

Today we travel to Massachusetts!
Upload responses to Seesaw or email to Mrs. Parnell.

Today Mrs. Hoyt reads us the classic story Make Way For Ducklings by
Robert McCloskey.  Mrs. Mallard was sure the pond in the Boston Public
Gardens would be a perfect place for her and her eight ducklings to live.
The problem was how to get them there through the busy streets of
Boston. But with a little help from the Boston police, Mrs. Mallard and
her family arrive safely at their new home.

Try these fun activities to go along with the story:
  • A maze to get Mrs. Mallard and the ducklings safely to their new home.
  •  A dot to dot  of Officer Michael
  • Draw your family and your home
  • Word Search

Be sure to think some good thoughts!
Today’s Chant:

Good, better, best.
Never let it rest.
Until your good is better,

And your better is your best!

Congratulations Alexis!

JiJi informed us that Alexis made it to the 100% club! We are so proud of your efforts Alexis! Our class is now at 88%. Keep working on ST Math. We can't wait to receive our next postcard from JiJi and see who will be next in the 100% club. The certificate was mailed to Alexis!

Pine Glen Book Mobile

Pine Glen Book Mobile
 June 2nd and 3rd
We know students miss friends and school. Students may need books to take them
on their own adventures!  Reading is a stress reliever for many and enables us to meet
new friends, and develop a strong character!  We know our kindergartners love to read
and we love helping them read! We want all students to have books to read and enjoy
for the coming weeks and even through the summer. The book mobile (more like a book
parade) will allow the kindergarten team to deliver books from the back of our trunks!
Kindergarten teachers will be arriving at your house with a carload full of books! Thank
you to the  K team and friends  for purchasing some new books and sharing some gently
used books as well as orchestrating this event!
Students may select books to keep adventures going while we are apart. If you would
like to keep them, fine. If you would like to return them to kindergarten teachers when
we return to school in the fall, great!  We would love an opportunity to see you!

Note: Health and safety are a priority so there will be a couple of rules.
See below for details and expectations:
1- Students must step back and wait while the teacher opens the trunk and sets up.
2 - Students must use the provided hand sanitizer before touching the books.
It will be provided in the back of the vehicle.
3 - We will connect with a wave and a big smile but will maintain a safe distance
(6 foot) at all times.
4 - Students may select a few books.
5 - When we return to school in the fall students may opt to return books to the
kindergarten classrooms or may keep them for future enjoyment

***Interested in the Book Mobile delivering to your driveway? - Please check your
email with link to a sign up genius! Responses needed by May 29th.
Be sure to leave your street address and a telephone number.

An estimated delivery schedule will be shared once it is set. Please understand that
timing will depend upon the quantity of deliveries and pacing. We have never done
this and may not meet our timing estimates. We apologize that you cannot select your
day as we will be grouping deliveries by neighborhoods.

May 27 - Pennsylvania - Liberty Bell and American Flag - AND - Read Aloud - Red, White and Blue, The Story of the American Flag

Today we travel to Pennsylvania to learn about the
USA Flag and the Liberty Bell!
Upload responses to Seesaw or email to Mrs. Parnell.

Check out Rose- She has already started her travels
around the USA! She has her suitcase and passport
all ready! I can't wait to see all the stamps in her
passport that she collects on her travels.

In the story, Red, White and Blue, The Story of the American Flag by
John Herman you will learn all about the history of the American flag.
Did you know it did not always look the way it does today? Watch and
listen to how our flag has changed over the years.
