We read a Let's Find Out- I How to be Kind, completed the Let's Find Out worksheets and played a getting to know you game At the beginning of our time together we danced to Tooty Ta together (check out the video below) and when the 4th graders left the partners high fived for a great time! We are very excited about this partnership and we look forward to many learning experiences with our partners!

All About Us!
We have been sharing our All About Me papers. We are found some things that students have in common and are assisting them with making connections. These posters will be displayed above our cubbies in the hallway. Parents hopefully you checked them all out when you attended Open House. Some students did not turn in these homework assignments. If you would like to have your child do this assignment please send it in when it is complete and we will have them share with the class and then we will hang it in the hall over their cubby. Thank you for your help!
Estimating
This week we introduced estimating. We have asked the students to estimate or to make a good guess as to how many seeds are in the different kinds of apples we have been learning about.
We were surprised to see that there were different numbers of seeds in each apple. Be sure to ask your child about this. What apple had the most seeds, which one had the least? Below see pictures of the students demonstrating what we do for estimates that are to high, to low and an accurate guess or "right on the nose." We also saw the shape in the middle of the cut apple- a star!

Successful First Full Week of K!
We rounded out our week with Orange, Yellow and Green days. We focused on fine tuning our classroom expectations, worked on our three new books, Nursery Rhyme, Color and Number books. We went to all our specials, had our first whole school assembly and we had a Fire Drill. We are all tired from our first 5 day school week. We also opened our Discover Stations for the first time. The students LOVED playing.
