More exciting chick news. We have 8 chicks, 2 are boys and 6 are girls. We had 7 hatch in the incubator in our classroom. The boys are yellow. Four of the girl chicks are a rusty yellow/brown color and two are black. We had the chicks out at our Morning Meeting on Thursday and everyone got a chance to hold a chick.

Hoots & Congratulations!
This week we had two more students join the ST Math 100% club. Congratulations to Zeyaan and Lorenzo! We now have 10 students who are in the 100% club and they are now working on the challenge level and some first grade levels. We had many students earn puzzle pieces from Mrs. Sheppard for working so hard on ST Math during our March Mathness challenge. We also had some students earn Hoot cards this week. Congratulations to our at home readers and certificate earners.

Egg-citing News!
On Monday afternoon Ms. Pavlicek came and put 8 eggs into our incubator. She had been caring for them in a giant incubator at the science center for 19 days. This meant that the chicks should hatch between Tuesday and Thursday (@21 days). When students left on Tuesday we only had four chicks and two eggs with pips in them. When we all arrived on Wednesday morning there were six chicks! The students have been so excited by this process. Their observation journals are very detailed to document all the growth and changes the eggs have gone through to become chicks and how quickly the chicks are growing!
