Mrs. Parnell and her daughters Lindsay and Ashley also went around town for the word hunt. We loved finding all the words and seeing some of our friends along the way! I heard from Drew, Max H., Emma, Bryson, Alexis and Chris. Drew spent last week getting ready for Easter. He read lots of Easter books - Happy Easter, Curious George, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick and The Berenstain Bears’ Easter Parade. His family even made fancy hats and had our own Easter parade. Drew decorated wooden Easter eggs, completed an egg stack challenge and a sink or float egg experiment (put objects of different weights into plastic eggs and made predictions about what would sink or float). Drew ended the week with the word hunt (walked up Lantern and down County and then drove the rest of the way). Drew also signed up for Epic and has been enjoying reading and listening to books. So busy! Max H. was busy with Easter preparations and celebrating. Max did the sight word hunt, made Easter story cookies, and had an egg hunt in his backyard. Emma and her brother played an escape from the duct tape game on Easter. Emma's dad said it only took her a few minutes to get freed! Bryson sent a picture of him hlding the paper from the word hunt! Alexis also went on the word hunt and celebrated Easter with her family.
Chris shared some pictures of his weekend too. Chris posed with some yummy looking Easter cookies, the Easter Bunny, and showed us some of his new Easter gifts. He also helped his dad and worked with his tools in the yard.

Last week Drew studied the water cycle and created rain clouds in a jar. He also read the book Do Unto Otters and talked more about manners and kindness as well as wrote in our journals about what kindness looks like. He took part in a birthday parade as part of an act of kindness. He studied otters and made otters from toilet paper rolls. Drew also did an escape room where Maggie and Drew had to find hidden clues and then solve the math problems to unlock the box for their prize! He ended our busy week by pitching our tent in the toy room for a “camp in,” which Drew loved. He also checked the blog every day and loving the read alouds! ❤ - LOVE THIS
Alexis has had a wildlife week. She spent time outside in the fresh air (away from people) and came up close with nature. Tuesday was a roller coaster of emotions. Her golden retriever (whose ears were colored pink on a rainy day) found a nest of bunnies and tried to play with them not knowing how delicate they were. One was injured and thankfully its sibling was not. We brought them both to a wildlife rehab and I’m happy to say the injured one is recovering nicely and both are doing great. Lexi also built and painted a bird feeder and has enjoyed watching our feather friends enjoy the seed. Finally, we partook in Mrs P’s outdoor scavenger hunt. We had fun finding lots on the list, spotted a muskrat and beaver dam.
Lillian has been spending time reading on Epic and riding her bike observing the wild turkeys.
Color mixing day! Max H. and Bryson sent me pictures of them doing color mixing after listening to Mrs. Parnell read Mouse Paint and White Rabbit's Color Book. I love these stories and the activities that Max and his brother did and Bryson did the color mixing experiment that Professor Labcoat showed us. These activities looked like SO MUCH FUN! Thanks for sharing about them.

Happy Monday. I heard from Drew and Ryan today. Drew took advantage of the rainy weather last week and practiced some self-care, as well as small business and math skills by opening a home salon for his family. Manicures, pedicures and facials were had. Drew created a price list and Drew added up all the receipts and counted the money. (Sounds like a great idea!) Drew also used FaceTime and wrote some letters to be able to connect with friends. Today, Drew started learning about plants and read the story The Seed by Eric Carle, and then learned the parts of the plant and did Dr. Jean's song "Flowers, stem, leaves and roots".
Today Ryan remembered to practice washing his hands by washing off the stamps throughout the day. He also did some work pages, took a walk, acted silly, did a science experiment, painted for art and worked on ST Math.

Great Job Rose, Chase & Ryan!
Sean and Aidan were up early working on today's read aloud The Green Umbrella. Sean also colored the umbrella, did a journal entry and was able to work on ST Math on a laptop. Awesome work Sean! (I hear that installing on a laptop or computer has worked better than trying to load clever onto the iPad).
March 18th-
Drew and his family used today’s story (Leo the Late Bloomer) to compare and contrast with the character of the Giraffe in the book Giraffes Can’t Dance. We took the rest of our learning outside to Ward Reservation (it was perfect weather for hiking).
Sean and his brother, Aidan enjoyed the Leo the Late Bloomer read aloud!
March 17th- Here are some of our Room 101 friends enjoying their goody bags from Liam!
March 15th-
Mrs. Parnell has been doing a lot of reading and research to help keep us all connected while we are not at school. I have also been taking a lot of walks to make sure I get some fresh air and clear my head!
I can't wait to see what all of you have been up to! (Coming soon I will share a youtube video of me reading Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus). Remember we all should try to read every day for our Read to Feed Read-a-thon!
