Building 3D Shapes!

Today students applied their knowledge of shapes and applied it in creating their own 3-D shapes!

Not only did they build shapes, but they had to identify the shape they made and to tell some of the attributes such as how many corners and how many sides.

We had cubes and pyramids.  Some were creative and combined the cubes and pyramids!

Checkers!

We learned to play a Colonial Times game today.......checkers!
There is a lot of strategy involved with the game of checkers.

Is this a precursor to our modern day coding activities?  Players must think about their moves and strategize in order to be successful.

We went to Boston!

We visited the State House and saw the Hall of Flags and Gold Dome.

We walked down Beacon Street and cleaned our feet on a Colonial Times boot scraper and looked for purple glass and hitching posts.

Then we crossed into the Gardens and visited Mrs. Mallard and her ducklings

Then we rode the swan boats!

Studying maps......we can find our houses on google maps!

Right and Left

Hokey Pokey!

When students arrive at school full of energy and we need to teach about positions like right and left, what do you do.......Dance!  We danced the Hokey Pokey this morning to help practice using our right and left body parts!  A fun way to burn off our energy on a rainy morning.
