We had a GREAT Friday!

We were very busy today! We started out learning about the Summer Reading Program at the Burlington Public Library.

We then went to to computer lab and worked on Raz-Kids and Symphony Math. Mrs. A. took pictures of us in front of the green screen and superimposed an American Flag behind us and Mrs. Parnell took a picture of us holding flag.

We then went up to see our 4th grade partners and they helped us work on our Anerican Symbols packet.

After lunch and recess we prepared for our Flag Day Family Gathering and then welcomed all our families to our Patriotic Concert and book sharing. We were so fortunate that all 21 of our students had at least one family member to share in this special end of year event! The students did an excellent job. We were so proud of them!

We can't believe that there are only 5 1/2 days of kindergarten left. The year has flown by. The students have grown so much. They should be proud of all their accomplishments. 

Career Day

On Tuesday, June 7th Pine Glen had their 2nd annual Career Day. We had a great time visiting with parents and community members. We learned a lot about different kinds of jobs that are available. The kindergartners came up with interesting questions for our visitors. We all enjoyed our morning learning about careers!  Thank you Ms. Zanotti for organizing this fun and informative morning.

A Busy Science Day!

Today we started our day with Mr. Musselman. He visited our classroom to do a cloud presentation. Throughout the school year we have been leaning about the four seasons. The weather that happens in the seasons and about different temperatures throughout the seasons. Today Mr. Musselman spoke to us about how clouds can predict the weather. He also showed us how to make our own cloud! This was really interesting!

Nature Walk!

This afternoon Miss Pavlicek came to our classroom and introduced us to living versus non-living things. We had a discussion about how you know something is living. Miss P. told us that living things need sun, water, shelter, oxygen and food to live. We then went on a nature walk through Pine Glen's nature trail recently renovated by Adam Jankoski. A past Pine Glen student. He cleaned up the nature trail for his Eagle Scout project. He did a wonderful job and we enjoyed our walk with Miss P. We found many living things on our walk. We saw many insects, a duck, a toad, deciduous trees, evergreen trees, ferns, moss and an endangered lady slipper flower. It was a great day!

Butterfly Release!

Last week our butterflies emerged from their chrysalis'  We were all amazed by their beauty. We went outside and released our butterflies back into nature. Some of the butterflies were hesitant to leave us and landed on a couple students in our class!
