Pine Glen Kindergarten Students Are Grant Recipients!

The Pine Glen Kindergartners will be experiencing some different learning opportunities

this year thanks the generosity of the Burlington Education Foundation. Fine Motor Boot

Camp will help teachers support students in the area of fine motor, language, and social skills. We will work on hand-eye coordination, pre-writing, pincer grip, dexterity, visual perception and more!

This project is funded by a grant from the Burlington

Education Foundation.

Learning Commons

Today in the Learning Commons, Ms. Small introduced us to the Global Read Aloud program. It is a six week program that will focus on the author Mem Fox. Global Read Aloud will connect 1 million students in 60 countries! Ms. Small read the story Koala Lou today. Mr. Lyons stopped by to see what was going on and he stayed to listen to the story. He then shared that he had met Mem Fox and he was very impressed with her and how she hopes to help all people have the materials they need to be able to read! Then Mr. Lyons and Ms. Small participated in a turn and talk with us about the part of the book that we liked the best. Every week we start our Learning Commons time with meditation and one minute of deep breathing.

Week 4 was another BUSY week!

We finished our Animal books today. We will read them next week.

This is the book that we emulated for our animal book.

We hung our jack-o-lanterns on the door. We are getting excited for Halloween.

We had 9 students do the Highlight of the week journal page and earned a prize.

The Creepy Critters Have Arrived!

Miss P. from the Burlington Science Center visited our classroom today. She joined us for our morning meeting and then she shared the Creepy Critters with us. She introduced us to the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches from the insect family, Hairette the tarantula from the arachnid family and Charlie the corn snake from the reptile family.

We talked about these animals being living things and what they needed to live. Miss P. told us that living things need to be able to move, they need water, food and that all living things have a lifecycle, they are born, grow, reproduce and die. We also talked about some things that are not living, rocks, paper, crayons, etc. Living vs. nonliving is a bit challenging for kindergartners. We will be working on this theme throughout the school year.

We all held or touched Charlie then we sketched and labeled the creepy animals. It was a fun day!

ST Math Update

Congratulations Room 101 Students! We got out first postcard from JiJi. Our class has completed 10% of the program. We have been very focused and trying very hard so I'm sure our we will make quick progress. We can't wait to see our next postcard.

We Met our 4th Grade Partners!

Today we met our 4th grade partners! We will be working on many projects with Mrs. Visocchi and her 4th grade class. Today we made book marks and read books together. At the end of our session we danced to Go Noodle's Pop See Ko. We all had a great time today! In two weeks we will start a big animal project with our 4th grade partners.
