Yea for the 1st Day!

We had amazing kindergartners today! All students tried their best adjusting to a new school after a long summer. We were able to go through many expectations and rules in kindergarten and Mrs. Kearney and I were impressed at how well the students did. We are both exhausted after our first day and I'm sure your kindergartner is too. Please try to get your child to bed early tonight. They will need some extra sleep the first few weeks of school until they adjust to the rigors of our kindergarten program. Below are some highlights of our day. You can see we were very busy.

We learned a lot about safety today, with wearing our masks, washing our hands and socially distancing to keep each other safe. We watched this video produced by the Burlington Science Center. Feel free to view it again with your child at home.

We had recess under the awning too. We played with chalk, puzzles and Pattern Blocks.

Successful Kindergarten Orientation!

We had two successful sessions of our Kindergarten Orientation today! We welcomed the kindergartners and their parents into our Pine Glen family. We are looking forward to wonderful year. We will have 12 students in our class. 

It has been great getting to know all of the families of our students through 

our Listening Conferences.  We have 4 more families to meet in the next few days. 

Thank you for taking the time to meet with us and share about your child and family.

Reminders:

              1. First day of Kindergarten is Thursday, September 9th. We told the students 

7 more sleeps before they come back to Pine Glen. Maybe having a count down at 

home could help with getting prepared and ready for our first day.

                

               2. Please attach the backpack tag to your child's back pack and have your 

child wear their new Room 101 pin for the first week of school until students know 

how to find our classroom on their own.

    3. Remember to pack the green communication folder. These folders

should be sent to school with your child each day.

                4. Supplies needed the first day-

                                    * backpack

                                    * water bottle

                                   * peanut/tree nut free snack (packed separately)

                                    * lunch menu with choices outlined or lunch box

                                        with peanut/tree nut free lunch packed from home

                                    *labeled towel for learning/eating/mask breaks outdoors

                                    *labeled change of clothes to be kept in cubby

                                    * green communication folder

When we are outside we will not wear our masks. So, it is important that we recognize each other when we have our masks on and off.
