An Eggcellent Learning Adventure

Some eggcellent and eggstra-special learning took place this week.  There is a lot to chat about with your children! We have been watching the chicks hatch and watch them grow and change on the live stream from the Burlington Science Center. Ms. Pavlicek stopped by yesterday and let each student visit with and observe some of the chicks. The kindergartners were so excited and thought the chicks were so cute.

We are still stuck on eggs. We practiced our color mixing skills and created our own dyed spring eggs and we went on a word hunt with our 4th grade partners on the playground this morning. The kindergarten sight words were hidden in plastic eggs. This was good practice for the kindergartners. They had to open th egg, read the word, tell their 4th grade partner what it said then find the word on the check list. It has been eggceptionally fun learning with eggs over that past few weeks!

Hoot Reward- Whole School Bingo!

We had a great time on Friday before dismissal playing Whole School Bingo for our March reward. Although we did not have any winners in Room 101 all students earned a prize from our class bucket because everyone was engaged, paying close attention trying to win Bingo. Thank you to Mrs. Papadonis and Mrs. Perry for assisting us with Bingo! The students in Room 101 continue to work really hard at school. We have filled our popcorn jar again and we will be voting for the reward next week.

Reading Groups

Students in Room 101 have been loving their reading groups and have been working really hard and making tremendous reading gains. We love seeing their confidence and excitement grow with their reading abilities. Please be sure to listen to your child read the the book in their reading pouch. We ask the students to read the book three times to improve on their fluency. Some nights there may be written work to accompany the reading. Kindergarteners still need help with organization and parental support is needed for our students to reach their highest potential. Also, please remind them to put their book back into their pouch and the pouch back into their backpack as soon as they are done with their reading so we will have the pouch back at school and ready for our next reading group. Thank you for your assistance.
