Our first full week of Kindergarten was a busy one! Learning so many new routines, expectations and rules. We are all adapting to our long days. After lunch is when a lot of students are slowing down and asking when it is time to go home. As we build stamina we all will be less tired.
Monday- Was red day. Most students wore the color of the day. We read a red book, created a page in our own color book, did the Nursery Rhyme book page, the Queen of Hearts, learned about fire drills and practiced leaving the classroom safely. We also started making the Three Little Pig's houses. Today we made the straw house. Mrs. Burke, Pine Glen's Speech and Language Specialist came to introduce herself to all our students. Mrs. Burke will be in our classroom working with some students. Mrs. Burke is also our classmate Cora's mom. We also had our first Music class with Mrs. Agati.
Tuesday was orange day. We continued to work on our Color and Nursery Rhyme books. We illustrated Peter, Peter. We also made the stick house and colored the wolf. We learned a new app on the iPad called Drawing Pad and we explored all the tools we could use to create pictures. We read more versions of the Three Little Pigs and we had Art with Mrs. Flynn for the first time.
Wednesday was yellow day. Mrs. Ardizzoni, one of the Town of Burlington's Technology Integration teachers came in to teach us how to take a picture of ourselves to use as our iPad wallpaper, so we would all know who's iPad is whose in the classroom. Then she introduced us to the Clever portal and taught us how to use our badges to get into Clever. We also worked on our Color and Nursery Rhyme books, illustrating Jack and Jill Be Nimble. We made the brick house and colored and cut out the three little pigs. We had a fire drill and we had gym for the first time with Mr. Kip.

Thursday was green day. We continued our work on our Color and Nursery Rhyme book, illustrating Rock a Bye Baby. We learned how to highlight the news. We hunted for our first set of sight words in our first edition of Room 101's Kindergarten News. We wrote as many letters and numbers we knew. We had a pretest on the first set of words to see how many words the students already knew. The News and first set of words will be sent home tomorrow. We also made ourselves to add to our retells of the three little pigs stories. Mrs. Ardizzoni came back today and she taught us how to access the Seesaws App in the Clever Portal. We did an assignment and posted our work. Our hope is to post a Seesaw lesson a couple times a week. Parents are asked to join the Seesaw Family Portal so you can view and comment on your child's work. Seesaw invites for families will be sent home tomorrow. Mrs. Fortunato, Pine Glen's Math Coach came in and taught us how to access and play ST Math through the Clever Portal. ST Math has a mascot JiJi who the students help solve the math problems so he can get across the screen. St Math was a big hit and the students were excited to use the program. We went back to the library. Please remember our library day is Thursday, so please help your child remember to bring their book back to school by Thursday.
