This week we started learning about holidays. We learned about Diwali and Halloween. Students worked on their Holiday book, we watched videos and read books about Diwali on Monday. Students also made Rangoli. Keshvi and Myra shared their beautiful celebration photos with the class. We finished our 5 Little Pumpkins book and read it together. We also finished our Magnet Book and read it. We also focused on our second set of sight words and read the sight word book on the word where. We started our two November books- Thanks A Lot and Thanksgiving What Will We Eat? We made leaf calendar pieces and leafs for our classroom door for the month of November. We also had indoor recess and played longer at our Discovery stations. In gym on Wednesday, Ms. Govoni taught the students about how to do wheelbarrows! See videos below. On Thursday we learned more about the origins of Halloween and how it changed to how we celebrate today. We also started a new app to help students figure our how they are feeling. Pine Glen is piloting a social emotional app called Closegap. There were a lot of steps for students to learn but, hopefully it will be a useful tool for us to use at school.
