We had another kindergartner turn 6 this week. Happy Birthday to Aidan!

Aidan also joined the ST Math 100% club this week! Aidan is the 9th student in Room 101 to make it to 100 percent in ST Math. Congratulations Aidan!

We had many Hoot Card earners for getting their 60 minutes on their learning apps.

We had a few Superstars in Lexia.

And we had a Symphony Certificate earner.

Congratulations to our Highlights of the Week writers.

Teddy Bear Day!

We learned about the first teddy bear, created as a fun tribute to President "Teddy" Roosevelt in 1904.  This was wonderful way to begin our study of the Victorian Era. We read the Legend of the Teddy Bear by Frank Murphy. We learned that the Teddy Bear was named after President Theodore Roosevelt. We also read the story Winnie the True Story of the Bear Who Inspired Winnie-The-Pooh by Sally M. Walker. We learned how the books by A.A. Milne came to be. The students wrote about why their bear is the best. We also read the American Girl story of Samantha, a little girl growing up in the early 1900's. We brought our own Teddy Bears in from home and went on a Teddy Bear Parade through Pine Glen. On our parade we stopped by our 4th grade partners classroom to show our buddies our bears.

It was exciting to read a chapter book.  We look forward to everyday and wonder what will happen next.  Already we learned about the first automobile, the Model T, how children dressed and were expected to behave.  Did you know that people did not have showers in their homes in 1903?

Mrs. Parnell's bears from home.  They have movable legs and arms and wear clothes, just like the first Teddy Bear!

We Have Read a Good Book!

Not only do we enjoy a good book, we also want to share it with you!  We read books all of January! We have read so many great books. We decided we should write about our favorite ones. As persuasive writers we created posters to convince you to read our books. We completed our scripts and recorded our videos.  Mrs. Ardizzoni created a movie of all our mini commercials to promote our books! Check us out!

Our book posters are on display in the hallway outside of our classroom to help persuade future readers to consider selecting one of our favorite books!
