Teddy Bear Day!

We learned about the first teddy bear, created as a fun tribute to President "Teddy" Roosevelt in 1902. We read the Legend of the Teddy Bear by Frank Murphy. We learned that the Teddy Bear was named after President Theodore Roosevelt. We also read the story Winnie the True Story of the Bear Who Inspired Winnie-The-Pooh by Sally M. Walker. We learned how the books by A.A. Milne came to be. We brought our own Teddy Bears in from home and went on a Teddy Bear Parade through Pine Glen. On our parade we stopped by our 4th grade partners classroom to show our buddies our bears.

Mrs. Parnell's bears from home.  They have movable legs and arms and wear clothes, just like the first Teddy Bear!
