Highlights of the Week of January 10th

This week we continued our sea creature and blanket units. We completed Topic 7 in math and in Fundations, we reviewed all letters and introduced the letters v and w. We learned about Martin Luther King and learned more about How To or Instruct writing.  We also started our January Reading Challenge in school. We spent time looking at the 9 new books that Mr. and Mrs. Coady donated to the the kindergartners for our reading challenge. It was great to see the students spread out around the room and quietly "read" their new books. The students have been looking forward to this daily time in our day.

We talked about how fortunate we are to have enough food and we created posted to hang around Pine Glen talking about the K and 4th grade Souper Bowl collection. Information was sent home about the soup collection benefitting our community and being donated to People Helping People, the Burlington Food Pantry. Please send in non condensed soup for this drive. We will be collecting soup through February 11th. Thank you for your assistance!

Mrs. Fortunato came back in and did a fun math lesson working with ten frames and number combinations for ten. Then the students played a ten frame game with a partner for a few minutes at the end of the lesson.
