Highlights of the Week of February 28th

We had a busy week after returning from February vacation. We shared our awesome new sensory bottles that were created at home over vacation. It was nice to hear from the students when they explained the steps that went into making their own sensory bottle. We completed our Teen Number book and started two new books- Leaping Leprechauns Where Are They Now and the Number Rumba book. The next set of high frequency words were sent home this week- the number words, zero- ten. We were also very excited about reading and we started our reading groups. Please watch for the book pouches coming home during the week. Be sure to read the book (3 times, to build fluency) and then put it back in the pouch and send it back the NEXT day so we have the books to review and for others to use. We also used the Math Stackers to better understand number combinations to make teen numbers.

We also enjoyed our Read Across America spirit week and we wore our favorite color on Monday, our crazy socks on Tuesday, athletic or sports wear on Wednesday, Inspirational Words on Thursday and our PJ's (with books and stuffed animals) on Friday. We also worked with our 4th grade partners on Friday morning. We read a Let's Find Out on characters and then created our own character. Then the 4th graders read our book and the book they brought to the kindergartners and their stuffed friends.
