Highlights of the Week of March 14th

Room 101 was busy again... We worked hard in our Reading groups. We read books with number words in them and a leprechaun book. We also completed our Number Rumba book and read and highlighted them. We are working hard at remembering how to spell our number words. We are also back playing on the playground and have been enjoying recess more. Liam the Leprechaun visited our classroom three times and left us lost of special treats! We practiced our drill sound cards using Echo and Baby Echo and we used the Qball for the first time this week. The Qball is a nerf ball with a microphone in it that we can pass around and speak into. It was a big hit with all the students.

We started learning about the chick life cycle to get us read for hatching our own eggs in our classroom soon! We reviewed what all things need to live. We learned that all living things grow and change. We looked at photos of Mrs. Parnell and her daughter, Lindsay to see how they have grown and changed throughout the years. Mrs. Parnell's daughter turned 21 this week... How can that be?

In gym with Mr. Kip we have been working hard on jump roping and Travis currently holds the Kindergarten record! Room 101 friends were very supportive of Travis' efforts.

We also started learning about color mixing. We will use this knowledge when we do our mini-art unit and when dye our own Spring eggs. We read Mouse Paint and White Rabbit's Color Book. See blog post with Mrs. Parnell reading these books.  We also did a science experiment with the primary colors and watched how they created the secondary colors!

We also had a 4th grade visitor this week. Taylor earned a reward to read to a class, and she picked Room 101. Taylor was a past student of Room 101. The students enjoyed her book. Thanks for reading to us Taylor!

We were finally able to welcome parent volunteers back into the classroom. Thank you to Mrs. Schmaelzle for helping us on Friday!
