CHICKS! We can still watch them HATCH!

Kindergartners and Families,

We have incredible news to share!  Despite not being
at school to witness the incubation and hatching
process, our animal science guru Ms. Pavlicek has
formulated a way for us to experience it remotely!

Ms. Pavlicek moved 2 dozen eggs home and has set
up cameras for a live video feed!  We will all be able
to witness this exciting process!

Here’s the information from the Science Center!

Here is a message to students from Ms. Pavlick herself!

Hello everyone!
The Burlington Science Center manages a chick
hatching program for all it's kindergarten classes
at the 4 elementary schools.  The chicks were
supposed to hatch next week- Tuesday through Thursday.

Due to all the school closings, I didn't want them to be
disappointed and have decided to bring a smaller batch
of eggs to my house to hatch at home next week. ALL
students and families will now be able to watch the
chicks hatch and grow for a few days in their brooder
box via live streaming.

Please note: The stream will go live sometime Monday
(not much will happen until Tuesday) but I have also
enabled the Q & A feature for any questions. The hatch
will stream from 7-7 (that may change).

Announcement Video is attached in this email via google
link (or on our website, facebook and instagram)

Here is the link to the live stream:

Here is a small book that tells all about what is
happening inside the egg!

One thing that we scientists can do is record our
observations. See cover and page 1 of observation
ournal below:
Print this document and you can record your daily
observations by writing and illustrating about what you see!

When you are making your observations be sure to pay attention to
the following questions:
  • What do you see/notice?
  • What do you notice has changed/stayed same?
  • What do you notice about the colors, size, shape

In addition to affording us the opportunity to observe
the chicks, Mr. Musselman and Ms. Pavlicek have
generously been posting science challenges each day.
Please see the link and check out the first five
challenges they have presented!
