March 24th- Read Aloud- But No Elephants

But No Elephants written and illustrated by Jerry Smath  was a
favorite of Mrs. Kearney’s children when they were young. They
enjoyed it because it is funny. Thank you to Room 101 teacher,
Mrs. Kearney for sharing this story with us today! (Make sure
you check out Mrs. Kearney's blog post from 3/21. She misses
all of you!)

“Very Well but no elephants!” says Grandma Tildy.  By why do
you think Grandma Tildy did not want elephants but still welcomed
other animals?  Elephants are very interesting mammals. Check out
this video to learn out a little more about them!

Mrs. Kearney’s Story reminds us of another story of an elephant
named Elmer.  You might also enjoy this story.

Perhaps you would like to print and read another version of this
silly story about the importance of being unique.
Why is it great to be unique?

You can color in this picture of Elmer!

Mo Willem’s elephant character, Gerald the elephant is also a
favorite of many! Here is a link to teach you how to draw Gerald
presented by Art For Kids Hub.  It is a little tricky but the cool
thing is you can reply or pause the video to give yourself some
extra time!  When you have created your own elephant picture,
share a photo with your teachers and we will share with classmates!

Our good friend Dr. Jean has a fun elephant song and video to
share as well!

Now that you have done all that elephant learning, perhaps you
need to do an elephant breath?

Be sure to think some good thoughts!
Today’s Chant:

I am loved
I am kind
I am awesome

P.S.  It is said an elephant never forgets!  We might forget about
some of the adventures of these times at home.  Be sure to keep a
journal and take some photos! Share your photos with your teachers!
