Disguise a Turkey!

We have been reading a lot of Turkey books getting us ready for our Thanksgiving break. We sent home a homework assignment to disguise a turkey. We had some very creative disguises in room 101. We played a guessing game to figure our which turkey fit the three clues.  We had a lot of fun with this activity. Thank you for supporting your child at home. We had the kindergartners in room 102 and 103 vote for the turkey that they though had the best disguise. There was a tie Slate's football player and Felix's Santa both got the most votes with 5 each! Congratulations Slate and Felix!

Hoot of the Week & Congratulations!

This week Room 101 had the Hoot of the Week! Congratulations to Logan for being chosen as the Hoot of the week. We had many students work hard the whole week and earn next percentiles on ST Math and finished a Quest on Boost. We also had lots of students earn hoot cards for being focused on their learning and complete 60 minutes on the ST Math app. Wow!

CKLA, Writing & Getting Ready for Winter

This week we wrapped up Unit 3 in Skills in CKLA. The students have been working so hard learning lowercase letters, the letter sounds, tapping and blending words. We also worked on our chaining folders changing first last or medial sounds in words. We had some fun at practice stations working on first sound fluency, roll and record letters and sentence writing. We also learned our first three Tricky words one, two and three and we used our personal readers to practice reading these words. We also started writing in our journals. We were impressed with the students using their blending strategies to help them sound out the words they wanted to use! We also started getting ready for winter. We started working on our new bulletin board. We painted a giant evergreen tree and painted snowflakes on the tree. Then we made our own paper snowflakes. We learned a little about how real snowflakes are made and that they are all different just like we are. The students had fun with all these crafty activities. Our first set of sight words or Tricky words were sent home on Friday. We will orally assess the students on these 10 words words the week of December 15th.
