Good Bye for Now- Summer Challenge- Last Time on the playground as Kindergartners!- Thank You!

We had a wonderful year in room 101 and are so lucky to have spent this time with our kindergarten friends.  Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Gordon know all our friends are going to do great in first grade.  Over the summer we will be working hard to prepare for next year, reading, taking classes, writing curriculum and relaxing with our families.  We encourage all of you to rest, relax, play and read all summer too!  Remember we encourage our students to keep a journal over the summer!

SUMMER CHALLENGE

Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Gordon would LOVE to read about all of our (now former) students summer adventures.  If students write at least once a week every week (at least 10 entries!) of the summer adhering to the kindergarten expectations- at least 3 sentences and an illustration with 6 colors a PRIZE will be earned!  Please have the students bring in their journal the first day of first grade- September 6, 2016.  We hope we will be reading LOTS of summer journals! Last year we had two students complete this challenge. We hope to have even more this year!

Our Last Time on The Playground as Kindergartners!

Thank you parents for all the generous and thoughtful gifts! We cannot believe that the year is over. We hope you all have a wonderful Summer! Thank you for your continued support of our classroom this year. We appreciate all your help and effort throughout the school year.  Thank you for being a major part of your child's educational career.

Water Day #2

We had another awesome day outside! Today we celebrated the end of the year with our kindergarten friends in Room 103. We had a lot of FUN! Today we had a few different activities to choose from. We had a sink and float table, foam sticker table, and we had water balloon contests!

The water balloon challenges were fun.  A student from Room 101 had to work with a student from Room 103.  The students did a great job with the challenge and showed great sportsmanship!

We went to the library for the last time this year today.  Miss Carney was sad to  have us go! She read a sentimental book called "I Wish You More" and wished us all well.  She hopes that all students will read over the summer. She encouraged the students to join the Burlington Public Library's Summer Reading Program.  She also allowed the kindergartners to check out two books to keep over the summer.  If you don't want your child to be responsible for these book over the summer please send them back to school on Monday!

After we went to the library we went back outside with Room 103.  Mrs. Hoyt read us the story Elmer while we enjoyed a popsicle with our friends. Elmer is about an elephant who is different than all the other elephants and the book encourages us to be ourselves and be proud of who we are.  We will be designing our own Elmer elephants tomorrow and we hope to have a parade of unique elephants on Monday!

We can't believe that their is only 1 and 1/2 days left of kindergarten.  The time is flying by!
