Protect the Popsicle Engineering Challenge

Last week we started our science unit on water. We are learning about the states of water, liquid, solid and gas. We read Hey, Water and we did an experiment of ice in the sun and shade. and on Thursday morning the kindergartners worked with their 4th grade partners to discuss, plan and build a shade structure to protect the popsicle. On Thursday afternoon, we tested out our structures. It took about 14 minutes for the control freeze pop to completely melt. We then took the freeze pops out of the structures and measured how much of the freeze pop melted. The students enjoyed eating their own freeze pop while the control pop melted in the sun. Then we went over all the results We had a successful challenge! Great job everyone!

The winners were:

1st place- Eva, Mia, Sophia, Fatima & Daviana

2nd place- Kaesure, Lincoln, Mason & Ansh

3rd place- Patrick, Colin, Henry, Laura, Mark & Zeyaan

Kindergarten Concert & Family Gathering

We had a fabulous concert and family gathering!

Today, Tuesday, June 3rd, we had our Kindergarten Concert and Family Gathering. Room 101 students did an amazing job singing their songs with the other kindergarten classes (102 & 103) under the direction of Mrs. Agati, Pine Glen's Music teacher. After the concert students shared all their books with their families. Our students have grown and learned so much this year, these books show just how far they have come. The memory book tracks all the special things we have done this year, so students can look back and see all the things we have learned about throughout the year. They can also see how much bigger they are now when they compare the September photos to the June photos! Our students are "BIG" kids now and ready for new challenges next year.

We can't believe that we only have 11 1/2 days left. We have had a wonderful year with this group of students. We look forward to hearing about all their accomplishments in the future. Thank you for taking the time to come to our gathering today we hope you were as impressed as we were!  Check below for the video of the concert.
