Highlights from Last Week and a NEW ENGAGEMENT TOOL

We have been working really hard in Room 101. We are learning about many things and we are busy all the time. Please see the pictures below from last week. Last week was only a three day week but we managed to learn about many things!

We wrote notes to the Veterans to thank them for their service and helping to keep us safe.

We made colorful turkeys to hang on the bulletin board. We continued to work on our vegetable and pattern book.

We continued our work on Topic 3 in our Envision Math program. We are working with numbers 6-10 in this unit.

Mr. Lyons purchased Qballs for the three kindergarten classrooms. The students LOVED this new tool and our Morning Meeting was very engaging because of the awesome new tool. Qball is a microphone in a Nerf like (soft) ball. When the ball in moving the microphone turns off and then when the ball stops the microphone turns back on! We practiced rolling the ball and practicing our rhymes and we passed the ball around as our greeting tool! There are so many uses for this new tool. We can't wait to use it again!

We continued our animal project work with our 4th grade partners. This week we worked on our scripts for video taping next week. The students are getting excited to see how their knowledge is growing with their efforts. We can't wait to see the finished products in a couple weeks!

We also created our Kindergarten Feast placemats.  The students needed to weave the pattern in the middle of the mat then create their own pattern on the outer edge of the mat.

Miss Tigges taught the whole kindergarten the sign language to go with out Thanks-A-Lot song that we will be singing with our kindergarten friends next Monday.

Then we went to the PG Learning Commons. We started our class with our one minute of meditation. Then Ms. Small read us a story called Wherever You Are and we learned that we are all the same on the inside and on the outside we are unique. (This book reinforced the body book that we created last month). The students then chose a new book to borrow and then they used the Maker Space and explored the Legos.
