This cross-curricular initiative, designed through a strategic collaboration between Kindergarten classroom teachers and Digital Learning Coaches, seamlessly integrated Massachusetts ELA and DLCS standards with core CKLA concepts from Domain 3 Underdogs and Heroes; Stories. Kindergarten students demonstrated a robust understanding of literary analysis by identifying key elements of their favorite texts, including the distinct roles of authors and illustrators, the definition of fiction, and narrative components such as setting and character. To bridge the gap between written expression and oral presentation, students partnered with fourth-grade reading buddies, who provided essential mentorship and interview practice. The project culminated in the attached green screen video production, where students utilized digital tools to confidently articulate their literary analysis, showcasing significant growth in communication skills, content mastery, and digital literacy.
