Happy New Year!- Back to work

Yesterday we got right back to work. Some students had a difficult time remembering the school rules after being home for so many days. So we spent time reviewing the class rules and expectations.  We brought out our new Qball and we shared a favorite thing we did over vacation and then we played Boom counting with the Qball. It was great to get back into our routines.

We have started learning about sea creatures to prepare for our field trip to the Aquarium later this month. The students worked on a sea life puzzle and FUNdations letter puzzles. We also started our Sea Life book and did a page about the hermit crab. We also took Hermie our class hermit crab out to meet the class up close. 

We also had a mock snowball fight with our 3rd set of flashcard words.  The students threw a "snowball" then had to pick up a different one and read the sight word. If they did not know the word they needed to sit on the bench until we had winners. Many students did a great job reading the sight words. Remember our quiz on Set 3 flashcards is on Friday! Since we have a snow day tomorrow maybe you can have your own sight word snowball fight for practice. If you misplaced your flashcards the sight words can be found at the tab on the top of the blog. The students had fun playing this game, some were disappointed when they did not know the word and had to sit down.

We also started Unit 2 in FUNdations. We learned about capital letters A and B and we started creating our own Kindergarten Dictionaries.
