Electricity

Before we broke for the holiday break we explored a bit of electricity. When we learned about the different holidays people celebrate we learned that these holidays were all connected by light. We challenged the kindergartners to light up a light bulb using just a battery! The students worked together and eventually figured out how to make a closed circuit and light up the light bulb! Then we explored how to be safe around electricity. We ended this mini unit with comparing conductors and insulators and then using the materials in the science center kit the students explored different hand cranks to make their own electricity. These activities were engaging during a very exciting time of year with many distractions.
