Students are more engaged when there is a purpose to their
learning experiences. With this in mind, teachers work to create opportunities.
Service learning is one of these approaches.
The kindergarten and grade 4 friends reconnected yesterday to
learn how they can not only be readers but they can continue
their mission as hunger heroes by reading!
They can Read To Feed!
Yesterday we listened to the Story of Beatrice's Goat and then
learned about our read-a-thon.
Over the next few months we will continue our work as
Hunger Heroes, collaborate on an animal research project
and participate in a joint trip to the Franklin Park Zoo!
Early in 2020 we supported the local community by collecting
over 700 cans of soup for the Burlington Food Pantry. Now,
we plan to support a family in another part of the world
through Heifer International’s Read-to-Feed program.
Our participation in this program will help us grow as readers
and global citizens!
Please see student's sponsor forms and calendar sent home
yesterday and consider helping us with this project!
Sponsorship can be for individual students at home or for the
class at school!
