Greetings Room 101 Families,
Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Kearney would like to stay in touch with you
during our time away from school. You should have received an email
from Burlington Public Schools last night with an update. The message
conveyed that while we are away from school, there will be no required
assignments but the School Department will share some activities that
students can do. Daily reading is encouraged. To support the efforts of
the District, we will also share some ideas and resources that are
designed for our kindergartners. Again, these will be optional resources
available to you.

We know that children benefit from predictable routines. A lack of
routine and knowledge of what is happening may cause stress. Listening
to the news 24 hours a day can also cause added anxiety. We recommend
establishing a daily routine such as the one listed at the end of this
message and we are hoping that our forthcoming ideas will be welcome
distractions!

We are organizing our resources and ideas and you should expect a
message posted to the blog by Tuesday morning. Tuesday is also St.
Patrick’s Day. Our students have enjoyed some fun with a leprechaun
named Liam. We are hoping Liam may visit students at their houses.
(More details on this soon).

In the interim we would like to offer you this link to a social story that
you can print and read with your children. It can be found at
https://littlepuddins.ie/coronavirus-social-story if you would like
additional information about it. Thank you to Pine Glen speech and
language pathologist, Mrs. Burke for sharing this.

Daily Schedule
Below you will find a suggested schedule that our colleague, Ms. Varrell
shared. She found it through NESCA (Neuropsychology and Education
Services for Children and Adolescents). Of course any schedule that
you can keep to and that works for your family is what is best - The
message is that routine and predictability is what will help keep all
feeling safer.
