Jack-O-Lantern Time!

Last week we learned about pumpkin parts and we did a cross section of the pumpkin. On Friday, the students voted for how Mr. Parnell should carve the jack-o-lantern face for our classroom pumpkin. Mr. Parnell's schedule did not allow for him to actually come into our classroom this year but he did tackle this task at our house over the weekend. The students chose creative shapes for Mr. Parnell to create, but the final product came out great. We estimated how many seeds were in the pumpkin and there were some big guesses. Last year our class pumpkin had 791 seeds. This year our pumpkin only had 168 seeds! Matthew had the closest estimate. He guessed that there were 120 seeds in the pumpkin.

Room 101 students posed with our class jack-o-lantern. They noticed that it was much lighter carved!
