Reward Day- Bowling & Math Fun!

Today we continued our fun times! Yesterday we had our Global Play Day and because of the early dismissal due to the snowy weather we continued our reward day today. For recess we meet our 4th grade partners in the gym and we bowled together. The 4th graders helped the kindergartners keep score and all students were congratulatory for great events and supportive for good tries. At the beginning of bowling some of the kindergarten students had trouble hitting the pins, but toward the end of our time they had improved greatly. It is so helpful to have 4th grade partners to give great advice and for the kindergartners to listen and be able to preform better!  This was another learning experience that the students had fun doing!  Thank you Ms. Govoni and Mr. Kip for allowing us to use the gym and bowling equipment!

When we finished in the gym we went to our room for math. Mrs. Fortunato, Burlington's Math Coach was waiting for us and she read us a book called the Perfect Square. Mrs. Fortunato reviewed some things we had learned about shapes and then she at two fun activities for the students to do. The students made shapes in shaving cream and they were given a square to cut or rip and then change it into something else. The students needed to be sure that they used all parts of the original square in their completed art work. The students appeared to be enjoying themselves.

It was a great Reward Day! Way to go Room 101! Thank you Mrs. Fortunato for spending time with us and making math even more FUN!
