Lights, Camera, Science!

It kick off STEM week, Ms. P. and Mr. Musselman from the Burlington Science Center came to Pine Glen to do am amazing show on light. The program was over an hour long and the kindergartners did an amazing job watching and being engaged the program. Students gathered in the dark and were enlightened about the science of light. Light is one source of energy.  The sun is the ultimate source.

Be sure to ask your student why the balloons popped

We learned about how light reflect and refracts. We learned how rainbows appear after rain.
Then we explored what happens when you mix colors and how new colors are created.

Our eyes are only one part of our body that is involved in noting colors.
We learned about the impact of our nerves and our brain.

Animals see color differently and Mr. Musselman and Ms. P taught us about
how bees see florescent light and how lightenig bugs word plus how an
angler fish draws its prey close with light.

We learned how nocturnal animals see at night.
Ms. P. brought out Edison so we could get a good look at his eyes.

The show ended when translucent film was put over some letters
to reveal the word colors.

One of the experiments during the show was replicating bioluminescent animals and how they give off light. Mr. Musselman created a chemical reaction to show us how this light was created.
