Fun Friday- Gingerbread, Coding & Kindness, Oh My

Today was a FUN FRIDAY. This morning our 4th grade buddies came down to continue our gingerbread unit. We listened to two different gingerbread stories and then the students worked on Keys to Literacy traits of comparing and contrasting the stories. Next the students created gingerbread glyphs and a mystery gingerbread. Lastly, some partners we able to read different versions of the Gingerbread Man. We will be seeing our 4th grade buddies again on Monday to compare the gingerbread glyphs and play the gingerbread guessing together. We will then have a special surprise and lastly we will play holiday bingo together. We will also see our 4th grade buddies on Thursday for our culminating event for our gingerbread unit- GINGERBREAD DAY!

After a movement break on GoNoodle we went to lunch and then to the gym for recess. After recess we went to the Learning Commons and Mr. Donoff taught us about Kibo and the students coded the robot and watched Kibo go through the code that the students programmed. This week was one hour of code week!

Our last activity of the day was when Ms. Kendall, PG's guidance counselor came in to do a lesson on kindness. She read the book Have You Filled A Bucket Today. Ms Kendall then spoke to the class about the importance of being kind to each other. She gave examples of situations and the students had to tell her if the example was filling the bucket or spilling the bucket. At the end of the lesson she showed a video. The video was in black and white until people were nice then color entered the video. Students were asked to color the world with kindness.
