Meeting Echo- Making WISE choices

This week we learned about Echo the Owl. She is the mascot for our Fundations phonics program. Echo is used to help the students learn things in the program. We demonstrated how an echo works and then we talked more about owl and how they are wise birds. Our classroom rules will follow this acronym. WISE is a school wide program when students are caught by staff members doing WISE things they could earn a HOOT card and at the end of the week one HOOT card for each grade level will be chosen to be the HOOT of the week! All students took an oath to try their best to follow our WISE classroom rules and then they each signed an owl that we hung up under our classroom rules. Mrs. Perry our school psychologist introduced the school wide motivational system this week. Stay tuned... We hope to have many of our students being caught doing the right things and becoming the HOOT of the Week!

Mrs. Perry explained to the students and encouraged them to:

“Make WISE Choices”
  • Work to be APPROPRIATE
  • Important to be SAFE
  • Strive to be KIND
  • Everyone Matters!

Teachers are like OWLS:
  • Observant
  • Wise
  • Listening

Hoot cards can be given out by any staff in common areas (hallways, cafeteria etc.) to any student. Hoot cards should be placed in the buckets outside the conference room. On Thursday afternoon, a student will be randomly chosen from each grade to be the Hoot of the Week. The students chosen will be announced on Friday morning over the loudspeaker, they will be called down, receive a pencil and a picture.
