Hairyette the Tarantula

We were able to observe Hairyette, but we weren't able to touch the tarantula.  She is to delicate!  She is a spider, which isn't an animal family we study in kindergarten but she was very interesting to watch.  She was eating a cricket when Miss P. showed her to us.  Miss P. said that the spider uses her fangs and injects venom and then the venom turns the cricket to soup so she can drink it!  She also showed us her spinnerets and we were able to see some web come from them!  As you can see from the picture some of the students were a bit nervous to be around such a LARGE spider.
