Busy Monday!

The Pine Glen kindergartners are lucky to be participating in a pilot music program. Mr. Mullen music specialist from Marshal Simonds Middle School with be teaching us music for five 30 minute sessions. We all enjoyed our first session and we are looking forward to next week. The kindergartners especially liked the bubble gum and train songs.

We have been learning about Community Helpers and we were fortunate to have Arlington Firefighter Kevin Kelly come take to us about his profession. Mr. Kelly did a great job teaching us about fire safety and about all the special equipment that he wears to keep him safe at his job. Thank you for spending time with us Mr. Kelly!

Our second Community Helper visitor was Mrs. Floyd, Dillon's Mom. Mrs. Floyd is a Middle School Librarian and Technology Teacher at Marshal Simonds Middle School. Mrs. Floyd and Dillon read a few of their favorite stories with us and Mrs. Floyd used the iPad to show us a video and game that went along with one of the books she read to us. Mrs. Floyd gave all the kindergartners goody bags with pencils, notepads and a bookmark. She told the students to limit their screen time to 30 minutes at a time and to be sure the students read and write over the summer break! Mrs. Parnell agree's with Mrs. Floyd of the importance of reading and writing over the summer. We can't allow our brains to go all summer without exercising it- READ, WRITE and PLAY this summer. Mrs. Floyd also brought a beautiful book on poems for our classroom. Remember Readers are Leaders!  Thank you Mrs. Floyd!
